The new 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63 is a real beast. It’s capable of reaching 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) from a standstill in just four seconds (although Mercedes says it’s 4.5 seconds), yet it’s one of the best off-roaders on the market today. The “reinvented icon” as the German automaker calls its boxy SUV is now ready to hit the U.S. 991 destination and delivery fee. 149,550. The two share a handcrafted AMG 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine that’s good for 577 horsepower (430 kilowatts) and 627 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters) of torque in the G63. 147,500 will buy you a G63 with pretty much all tech features Mercedes could offer you today. These include a nine-speed automatic gearbox, Ride Control sports suspension, performance exhaust with adjustable flap system, and a 12.3-inch central display for the infotainment system. In addition, the AMG Dynamic Select system offers five drive modes and three extra off-road modes - Sand, Rock, and Trail. Probably the most impressive thing about the new G63 is its improved suspension with double wishbone independent front layout and adaptive adjustable damping. That not only improves its manners on pavement but also helps it retain its position as one of the most capable off-roaders (if not the most capable) easily out-performing most of its super-SUV rivals. Of course, the AMG treatment does incur a few penalties like the lower front fascia because of the additional cooling, but that doesn’t hurt the G63’s approach angle much. Mercedes-AMG will have the new G63 on sale in the United States early next year.
Back at speed, the cabin was hushed. My recollection is that the Coupe is still quieter (albeit with more tire noise), but the Targa's cabin levels are on par with the Cabriolet, which is itself impressive for a softtop convertible. Porsche says the 911 Targa will roll into showrooms at the end of June, and a full day with the new model leads me to believe customers won't be hard to find. While it lacks the single-minded sportiness of the enthusiast's-choice Coupe, the Targa is fresh and distinctive on the road. Its uniqueness, fascinating roof-mechanism kinematics and all-weather capability are sure to appeal to its affluent clientele seeking an open-roof solution. Don't be surprised if it's a success. If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that Stuttgart doesn't do anything half-baked - all of its products, from its entry-level Boxster to its flagship hybrid 918 Spyder, represent no-compromise engineering. That's true even when a model's usage case and audience is decidedly narrower. That's certainly the situation with this 2014 911 Targa 4, a car that stands as a meticulous modern interpretation of a celebrated model from Porsche's past.
The GLK offers a maximum tow rating of 3,500 lbs. Mercedes remains true to the philosophy that the best accidents are the ones that are avoided entirely. With this in mind, standard equipment for all GLK models includes Brake Assist (BAS), which shortens the braking distance significantly -- especially during panic braking -- to help prevent accidents or at the very least mitigate their consequences. The front section incorporates precisely defined crumple space between the body and the major assemblies beneath, allowing the hood to yield considerably if hit by a pedestrian, cyclist or motorcyclist. Together with the specially designed front bumpers and the softer foam of the integrated bumper impact absorbers, these measures afford pedestrians a high degree of protection. The new sport utility is destined to be one of the most fuel-efficient Mercedes-Benz vehicles ever. Smaller and lighter than its well-known SUV siblings, the GLK features a fuel-sipping 3.5-liter V6 engine, a sophisticated seven-speed automatic transmission and available 4MATIC full-time four-wheel-drive.
All of these components combine to give the Mercedes-Benz GLK 350 an impressive 0-60 time of just 6.5 seconds (estimated) while achieving an 23 mpg (estimated) on the highway. Both the Mercedes-Benz GLK 350 and GLK 350 4MATIC are matched with a seven-speed automatic transmission as standard. Low overall weight (estimated 4,036 lb. Much as the latest C-Class sedan has brought a new level of sporty driving and ride comfort to the sedan world, the new Mercedes GLK brings a new combination of agility and comfort to the SUV market. The GLK also broadens and extends the Mercedes-Benz sport utility line with cutting-edge engine and four-wheel-drive technology packaged in a stylish vehicle that's the perfect size for today's busy family. Mercedes-Benz offers the widest range of SUVs in the premium segment, the GLK being the brand's fifth model in the series. In response to customers' wishes, the company's Family of SUV's has grown to include the R-Class, M-Class, GL-Class and G‑Class. The new Mercedes GLK is the latest addition to this successful line-up.
Its ultrasonic sensors measure the length of parking spaces as the car drives past; the cockpit display then provides a schematic representation of the recommended parking maneuver. In developing the new SLK, the requirements of Euro NCAP as well as all of the global consumer ratings have been taken into account. This has contributed to the development of the bodyshell structure of the vehicle, which follows established concepts and has been optimized in a number of detailed areas. These include, among other things, reinforced members, a new side impact structure and new fiber-reinforced roll-over bar. In the event of an accident, up-front sensors and lateral satellite and roll-over sensors help the central control unit to predict the nature and severity of the accident. New, additional pressure sensors in the doors as well as acceleration sensors in the front bumper help in detecting an impact with a pedestrian. The restraint systems with two-stage driver and front passenger airbags have also been enhanced.
