Cable Routing Change When Installing New Transmission

CONDITION SUMMARY:



Situation:



As a result of changes made to the transmission casing, the positive battery and starter solenoid cables routing and securing points have been



modified.



NOTE:



When replacing the transmission with a modified casing (part number LR021650 or LR023720 [or later]), the positive battery cable must be



replaced with part number LR023719 (or later) and re-routed with the starter solenoid cable to the revised securing points on the transmission



casing.



Action:



In the event it becomes necessary to install a new transmission (part number LR021650 or LR023720 [or later]), refer to the Repair Procedure



outlined below to install a new positive battery cable and properly route it with the starter solenoid cable.

DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



REPLACE TRANSMISSION AND POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE



1. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 307-01: Automatic Transmission / Transaxle, and remove the transmission.



2. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 303-01A: Engine - 3.2L NA-16, and remove the intake manifold.



3. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the generator. (Figure 1)



4. Remove the positive battery cable.



5. Install the new positive battery cable: (Figure 2)



^ Route cable as indicated.



6. Connect the positive battery cable to the generator:



(Figure 1)



^ Tighten nut to l2Nm (8.85lbf ft).



7. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 303-01: Engine - 3.2L NA-16, and install the intake manifold.
