Model 203, 208, 209, 210, 220 and 230 with COMAND
Navigation / GPS Complaints
If you encounter instances in the above model vehicles equipped with the COMAND system of complaints with Navigation or GPS as indicated
below, please perform the related repair procedures.
Navigation Symptoms

  • route planner takes too long

  • route is not indicated on map

  • after destination is entered and confirmed the screen jumps back to the destination input basic menu

  • "No route" appears in the display

  • "No Navi CD" appears in the display


Do not replace any parts. Inspect CD-ROM for damage or contamination. If CD-ROM is found to be dirty, clean the navigation disc with an
approved CD cleaning solution. Start from the center of the CD and work toward the outside in straight strokes. Do not wipe in a circular motion.
GPS Symtoms
  • No GPS reception

  • Map not shown for current location.


Before replacing any parts, please perform the following:
  • Make sure that the navigation CD-ROM is for the vehicle's current geographical location.

  • Vehicle is parked outside in a location where vehicle has an unobstructed view of the sky.

  • Place the navigation system in the "Location Map" mode by selecting Info" from main navigation screen or by pressing Info" button.

  • Leave the power on until the system locates itself on the map and latitude and longitude are displayed (this will normally take from 15 to 30


minutes depending on weather conditions and time of day). If security is of concern, the key may be removed and the COMAND system turned
on using the "PWR" key. In this power on mode, the COMAND unit will automatically turn off after 30 minutes and the system should be
