Couple Get Married At 70 MPH In Back Of A Porsche

Is there a cooler way to get hitched?

While some people may feel content to drive away from their wedding in a rented limo or whatever boring car they happen to own, car enthusiasts know that the first drive as a married couple is an important one and the choice of car is equally crucial. Not everyone will have the opportunity to drive an all-electric Jaguar E-Type like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, but one couple in Atlanta, Georgia, may have done the next best thing - get hitched in a Porsche.

That's right, not only did the couple's first car ride as a married couple take place in a Porsche, the ceremony itself took place in the back seat at 70 mph.

The wedding took place at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta, Georgia, where the company is headquartered in the US. In addition to handling US deliveries, the location also features its own race track where you can rent out Porsche cars to drive. Samantha and John, who are Porsche Club of America members, could think of no better place to tie the knot than in the back of Porsche Cayenne being driven around the 1.6-mile track. Getting married in a church in front of all of your friends and family may be ideal for most people, but getting married at 70 mph sounds more fun.

The couple's family and friends did have the opportunity to enjoy a more slow-paced ceremony in the center's atrium and see them exchange vows while surrounded by classic Porsche cars. “The entire day exceeded anything that I could have dreamed of,” said the bride, Samantha Evans. “It was perfect for us. It fit us and who we are and how much we love Porsche.”

Her Husband John said “Everybody had a blast. They were just blown away. I’ve been to dozens of weddings and they’re all pretty much the same. With this one, it was definitely different from the norm in a great way. If you’re a car enthusiast, you’re going to love it. Even if you weren’t a car enthusiast, how could you not love this?"

Klaus Zellmer, president and CEO of Porsche Cars North America, said this wedding could open up more similar events at the Experience Center. "Beyond offering thrilling driving experiences for the public, our unique facilities have established themselves as highly sought-after venues for corporate events, galas, fundraisers, and numerous other special occasions. Weddings are a natural fit for our Porsche Experience Centers. Samantha and John's wedding is the first but hopefully won't be the last.”
