This bulletin is being revised to update the repair procedure to accommodate a new filter location. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number
10-08-44-005A (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).
Condition
Some customers may comment on an audio whine coming from the vehicle speakers when using the OnStar(R) system, including Bluetooth(R)
hands-free phone usage. The amplitude and frequency of the whine will change with an increase or decrease in engine speed.
Cause
2019 GMC Truck Acadia AWD V6-3.6L Page 122
This condition may be caused by electrical noise on the audio wiring between the OnStar(R) vehicle communication interface module (VCIM) and
the radio.
Correction
Technicians are to install a noise filter, GM P/N 20888105, inline using the following procedure.
Important
This correction will not eliminate the noise completely, but will reduce the amplitude of the noise.

  1. Confirm that the customer concern is for a whine noise with the OnStar(R) and Bluetooth(R) system.

  2. Obtain the noise filter, GM P/N 20888105 (1) and six wire splice sleeves, P/N 19168446.

- Identify and separate the single straight wire (2) from the noise filter with a piece of tape. Ensure that the single wire is identifiable from
the twisted pair (3) on both the filter and filter connector.
  • Cut the filter wires halfway between the filter and the connector.

  • Plug the filter connector (1) into the filter (2).

  • Strip all six (6) wires and attach wire splice sleeves to each, GM P/N 19168446. Refer to the figure above. Mark the single wire on the

filter and filter connector for easy identification.
3. Remove the front floor console extension panel - right side. Refer to Front Floor Console Extension Panel Replacement - Right Side in SI.

  1. Locate connector X202 (1) and detach from the center console brace (2).

  2. Separate the connector halves.

  3. Identify circuits 814, 1406 and 1405 (cavities 33, 34 and 35) on the instrument panel (IP) side of the connector. Unwrap the harness tape as

necessary and remove the wires from the bundle. Retape the harness with the three circuits out of the bundle.
  1. Cut the wires approximately 127 mm (5 in) up from the connector and strip the insulation from circuits 1405 and 1406.

  2. Splice the wires leads from the filter inline into the IP harness.

  • The single wire from each side of the filter must be spliced into circuit 814, which is the bare wire.

  • The twisted pair from each side of the filter must be spliced into circuits 1405 and 1406.

9. Reconnect the connector halves and reattach to the center console brace.
10. Secure the noise filter as shown. Tuck the filter into the space just below the floor air outlet duct and tie strap to existing harness.
11. Install the front floor console extension panel - right side. Refer to Front Floor Console Extension Panel Replacement - Right Side in SI.
