Creak From Roof Opening Panel



AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:



CONDITION SUMMARY:



Situation:



A creaking noise may be heard from the roof area when the roof opening panel is closed while driving. This may be caused by dirt / dust and certain



environmental conditions, causing the roof opening panel to creak against the body aperture.



Action:



In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to replace the roof opening panel seal.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



REPLACE ROOF OPENING PANEL SEAL

1. Raise the rear of the roof opening panel to the vent position. (Figure 1)



2. Beginning at the rear edge, remove the seal from the channel until it contacts the body aperture. (Figure 2)



3. Close the roof opening panel.



4. Open the roof opening panel enough to access the front edge of the seal. (Figure 3)



5. Remove the seal from the glass panel. (Figure 3)



6. Close the roofopening panel.



7. Raise the rear of the roof opening panel to the vent position. (Figure 1)



8. Identify the new seals (LR018247) split line.

9. Place the seal's split line centrally in the rear of the glass panel. (Figure 4)



^ Ensure the seal's small 'flip' is pointed downwards.



10. Push the seal into the glass encapsulation channel working to the sides where it contacts the body aperture.



11. Using a thin plastic wedge tool, push between the seal and the body aperture to carefully manipulate the seal into the glass encapsulation



channel around the corners. (Figure 5)



12. Close the roof opening panel.



13. Open the roof opening panel enough to access the front edge of the seal. (Figure 6)



14. Install the seal evenly to the front edge of the glass encapsulation channel. (Figure 7)

^ Ensure no gaps are present. (Figure 8)



15. Close the roofopening panel.



16. Inspect for correct fitment of seal. (Figure 9)
