2005 Mercedes Benz CLK 320 Technical Service Bulletin # P-72_10-22A Date: 010817

Body - Front Door Window Reopens After Closing
Date: August 17, 2001
Order No.: P-B-72.10/22a
Supersedes: DTB 25/01 dated April 10, 2001
Group: 72
SUBJECT:
Model 208
2000 Mercedes Benz CLK 320 (208.365) V6-3.2L (112.940) Page 294
Front Door Window Reopens After Closing to Leave a Gap of Approx. 5 cm
In model 208 vehicles if the front door window reopens after closing, leaving a gap of approximately 5 cm, do not replace door control modules.
Please perform the following steps to resolve.
After completing the instructions provided in DTB 72/00 dated November 20, 2000, the door windows may in some cases reverse when the
one-touch close function is activated. This affects model 208 vehicles manufactured as of June 2000 with door control module part numbers 208 720
21/22 26. Modified software was phased into production starting in March 2001.
Possible Cause:
Due to a timing issue in the left hand and right hand door control modules (N69/1, N69/2), the hall sensors in the window opener motors are not
monitored for a brief moment. This means the internal window position counter of the window opener motor may be 3-5 rotor turns behind the actual
window position.
Remedy:
In the event of this occurrence, please follow these steps using Star Diagnosis version 06.01 or newer. Note: During this test, windows must not be
denormalized or renormalized beforehand under any circumstances, as this can cause the fault symptoms to disappear for a brief time.
1) Close the drivers window manually with the drivers door closed and with a battery voltage of at least 12 volts.
2) Use Star Diagnosis to enter the door control module (control modules / seats and doors / DCM1) and observe the power window counter
reading from the Actual Values menu (item 07).
3) If the counter reading is 13 or higher, the door control module must be adjusted (step 4). If the counter reading is equal to or less than 12,
check the basic window setting for any possible faults (as detailed in DTB 72/00) and renormalize the window (see below).
4) Use Star Diagnosis to adjust the door control module. Exit the Actual Values screen (step 2), select menu item 6 control module adaptations~.
If the DCM has not yet been adjusted, menu item 4 will be visible window (FH) initializing. Select this item and read the hint screen, then
press start (F2).
5) After this adjustment has been made, the power window must be denormalized using Star Diagnosis under Control module adaptations /
synchronization, then press F2 after reading the instructions and renormalize using the power window switches with the doors closed to correct
the position sensor readings.
6) Repeat the same steps for DCM2 - Door Control Module Front Passenger Side.
By performing these steps, the time from when the door is closed to the start of the window closing is increased and therefore prevents the
reoccurrence of an error in the position counter. This must be done for BOTH door control modules. This adjustment has the effect that the window
closes a bit later after the door has been closed.
The adjustment function for the door control modules is available as of Star Diagnosis version 06.01. If the door control module has already been
adjusted, this menu selection will no longer be visible.
The DTC fault code must be provided in the diagnostic code field of the warranty claim.
