Complaint:
The ESP/BAS indicator lamp and ESP warning lamp light up The messages "ESP - Service Required" and "BAS - Service Required" are displayed
on the multifunction display.
Note:
In the ESP control unit, the code

- C1200-009 and/or,
- C1201-003 and/or,
- C1202-001,
may be stored.
Cause:
A: Signal comparison between release switch (LS) and brake light switch (BLS) implausible.
B: Power supply of brake light switch interrupted.
Remedy:
If the test steps stored in DAS do not eliminate the problem, proceed as follows:
Re. A:
- Remove brake light switch and pull switch plunger out completely.
- Install brake light switch and position 1.5 mm thick spacer between plunger of brake light switch and brake pedal stop.
- Release brake pedal and simultaneously pull back brake pedal with slightly increased manual force in addition to return force of return spring.
Brake light switch adjusts itself.
4. Remove spacer when adjustment is completed.
Re. B:
- Check power supply to brake light switch.
- Check light module and line to light module.
