Audio System - CD Paper Labels Cause Jamming

All Model 163.154/174/175 Vehicles CD Player
It has been determined that paper/stick-on labels for CDs deteriorate and come loose over time. If such loose labels come off in the CD player that
can damage the CD player or changer mechanism on the above mentioned models. Some of the failures or complaints include:
^ The magazine or disks become jammed and will not eject.

^ A disk is found and will not play.
^ A disk will skip and poor sound quality will result.
Before attempting any type of replacement or repair, please perform the following steps.
Eject the CD Magazine:
1. Insure that the CD labels have not come off inside the CD Magazine and have become adhered to the inside causing a jam.
2. Remove the labels and reinsert the CD magazine and retest.
3. Inform customers that CDs with paper or stick-on labels should not be used, an alternative would be to mark the CD with an appropriate
marking pen.
The above instance is clearly not a defect or fault of the CD player (A2/6). All warranty claims submitted as of December 20, 2002 as a result of this
damage will be returned and debited.
Should the CD magazine fail to Eject:
1. Replace the CD unit.
2. Return the unit through the standard warranty process.
3. The CDs will be removed and returned to the corresponding dealer.
4. Inform customers that CDs with paper or stick-on labels should not be used, an alternative would be to mark the CD with an appropriate
