Two TRC Athletes Commit to Row at Top Collegiate Rowing Programs

Triangle Rowing Club (TRC), the Triangle’s premier youth rowing program, had two athletes sign National Letters of Intent to row for top college rowing programs in the country on National Signing Day this past Wednesday.
Brooke Benestad, daughter of Angela and Leif Benestad of Cary, NC, is a senior at Cary High School. She will be joining the Ohio State Women’s Rowing Team, which has won three back to back D1 National Championships, along with sweeping the Big Ten Championships for six years in a row. In addition to rowing for TRC for 6 years, Brooke has received the Hammer Award for Fastest Novice Girl in 2016, the MVP Award in 2018, as well as medaling in countless events over her rowing career. She is the holder of the Triangle Rowing Club Women’s Team 2k Record and is a leader among her peers as Team Captain 2018-2019. She is also on the Cary High Honor Roll-2018.
Natalie Timinskas, daughter of Mindaugas and Barbara Timinskas of Cary, NC, is a senior at Cary Academy. She will be joining the up and coming D1 Women’s Rowing Team at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Natalie is a multi-sport athlete with a successful background in tennis. She was ranked top 20 in the State. She also played for her high school team and was awarded Girls All-Conference. She has also enjoyed being a part of the NC Abilities Tennis program, where she has volunteered her time to coach athletes with disabilities. While relatively new to rowing and rowing for TRC just under one year, she has quickly risen to make a significant impact on the Triangle Rowing Club Varsity Women squad. Natalie is a 4 Year Honor Roll Student.
