2024 Jeep Wagoneers Could Be Axing their V-8

2024 Jeep Wagoneers Could Be Axing their V-8

Jeep enthusiasts, brace yourselves: rumor has it that the 2024 Jeep Wagoneers might be dropping their iconic V-8 engine. According to insider sources, the automaker is considering replacing the V-8 with a smaller, more efficient engine.

The news comes as a surprise to many, as the V-8 has been a staple of the Wagoneer lineup for decades. But with increasing emissions regulations and consumer demand for more fuel-efficient vehicles, it seems that Jeep is exploring alternative options.

So, what could replace the V-8? One possibility is a turbocharged inline-six engine, which has been used in other FCA vehicles such as the Ram 1500. This engine produces 360 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, which is comparable to the output of the current V-8. Additionally, the inline-six engine is said to provide better fuel economy and smoother acceleration.

Another potential replacement for the V-8 is a hybrid powertrain. Jeep has already introduced a hybrid variant of the Wrangler, which combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor. This setup provides 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, while also offering improved fuel efficiency.

While the thought of a V-8-less Wagoneer may be blasphemous to some, it's important to remember that the SUV landscape is changing rapidly. With electrification and downsizing becoming increasingly common, even iconic models like the Wagoneer need to evolve to stay relevant.

Of course, nothing is official yet, and Jeep has remained tight-lipped about the rumors. We'll have to wait and see what the future holds for the Wagoneer lineup. But one thing's for sure: whatever engine ends up under the hood, the Wagoneer will still be a force to be reckoned with on the road and off.

What do you think, Jeep fans? Are you ready to say goodbye to the V-8, or do you think this move would dilute the Wagoneer's rugged image? Let us know in the comments below!
