Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The cruise control switch is an input to the body control module (BCM). The BCM monitors the cruise control on/off, set/coast, resume/accelerate

and cancel switches via the cruise control switch signal circuit in order to detect when the driver has requested to perform a cruise control function.

The BCM detects a specific voltage signal on the cruise control switch signal circuit when a switch is applied. The BCM sends a serial data

message to the engine control module (ECM) indicating the status of the cruise control switches.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* The cruise switch is ON.

* The ignition is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* The BCM detects an invalid voltage signal on the cruise control switch signal circuit for greater than 2 seconds and sends a serial data

message to the ECM. The ECM sets these DTCs when the message is received.

* The ECM runs this diagnostic every 0.05 second.

- Line Pressure Control (PC) Solenoid System Performance

DTC P0962

- Line Pressure Control (PC) Solenoid Control Circuit Low Voltage

DTC P0963

- Line Pressure Control (PC) Solenoid Control Circuit High Voltage

Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The line pressure control (PC) solenoid is part of the control solenoid valve assembly which has no serviceable components. The normally high line

PC solenoid regulates and directs the PC solenoid oil pressure to the pressure regulator valve and isolator valve. Increasing line PC solenoid

pressure increases transmission line pressure. The transmission control module (TCM) varies the current to the line PC solenoid through a low side

driver. Decreasing the current to the line PC solenoid increases line PC solenoid oil pressure by closing OFF the solenoid exhaust port. Increasing

the current to the line PC solenoid decreases line PC oil pressure by opening the solenoid exhaust port. Line PC solenoid power is supplied by the

TCM through a high side driver (HSD). The HSD protects the circuit and components from excessive current flow. If excessive current flow is

detected, the HSD will turn OFF. When the fault is corrected the HSD will reset.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* The engine speed is greater than 400 RPM for 5 seconds.

* The ignition voltage is 8.6 volts or greater.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

P0961

The TCM detects an internal electrical malfunction of the line PC solenoid where the measured line PC solenoid current does not equal the

commanded line PC solenoid current for 5 seconds.

P0962

The TCM detects a short to ground or an open/high resistance on the line PC solenoid control circuit for 1 second.

P0963

The TCM detects an open or a short to voltage on the line PC solenoid control circuit for 1 second.

Base Camp: 2022 Jeep Wagoneer Series II

Text
After an absence of nearly three decades, the Wagoneer name has finally returned to the tailgate of a Jeep. Showing up in dealerships later this year, the large-and-in-charge family of SUVs will pack a choice of V8 engines and enough space for the whole family (plus a few from your immediate bubble). If you want to tow up to 10,000 lbs, this truck can do that as well.
And it is a truck, make no mistake. Built from the bones of the current (and well-received) Ram 1500 pickup, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will take on the likes of Suburban/Escalade and Expedition/Navigator at their own game. At launch, only the six-figure Grand Wagoneer Series III will be available; we’re focusing on the standard Wagoneer Series II model. What happened to Series I, you ask? That’ll show up later still, explaining why we’re discussing the $79,995 Series II today.
Powered by a familiar 5.7-litre Hemi V8 making about 400 horsepower, the Wagoneer sends power to its four-wheel drive system via the brand’s tried-and-true 8-speed automatic. If this combo operates with the level of unobtrusiveness as it does in Ram trucks, it will make for a good match to this luxury SUV. It also doesn’t hurt that every Wagoneer (Grand or not) comes with a three-year maintenance plan.
This thing’s a looker in your author’s jaundiced eyes, with Wagoneer models set to feature LED head- and fog lamps, accent badging, and a standard sidestep. Out back, snazzy tail lamps stretch from the rear quarter panel to the hands-free power lift gate, while unique “Series” badging on the rump is sure to ignite new class wars at the country club. The rig rides on standard 20-inch aluminum wheels though other configurations are available.
Jeep set out to capture a piece of the luxury market with these machines, and first looks at the interior show they have brought their A-game. Perforated Nappa leather seats are standard across the board, heated and ventilated for front-row passengers in the Series II. There are eight USB ports, an Alpine-branded audio system, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display. Note that a sunroof isn’t part of the deal unless you want to front the cash for an optional package.
In case you’re wondering the difference, Wagoneer is powered by a 5.7-litre V8 while the Grand Wagoneer gets the hairy-chested 6.4-litre V8 engine. Beyond that distinction, all external dimensions are within a sliver of each other.
When a customer is swimming at this level, the addition of $6,000 represents just a 7.5 per cent walk in purchase price, as if someone added $750 to a base model Chevy Spark. That’s the difference between the Wagoneer Series II and Series III trims, making the latter a no-brainer since it adds standard equipment like an air-ride suspension and better 4WD system in the form of a two-speed transfer case. The inclusion of items such as heated rear seats and a heads-up display system are no small matters.
It took almost thirty years for Jeep to bring back the Wagoneer. Looks like they got it right.

2022 GMC Sierra HD Gets Limited Heated Rear Seat Availability

Text
Certain 2022 GMC Sierra HD models will have restricted availability of the Heated Second Row Outboard Seats feature, GM Authority has learned. The limited availability of the feature stems from the ongoing global microchip shortage.
The Heated Second Row Outboard Seats feature for the 2022 GMC Sierra HD is tagged with RPO code KA6, and is offered as part of the SLT Convenience Package (RPO code PCY) for Sierra HD SLT Crew Cab models. Heated Second Row Outboard Seats are also standard on GMC Sierra HD AT4 and Denali trim levels, both Crew Cab be default.
However, as a result of the global microchip shortage, some units of the 2022 GMC Sierra HD normally equipped with Heated Second Row Outboard Seats will not come with the feature. Affected units are those produced after July 26th.
Customers who purchase a 2022 GMC Sierra HD that is affected by the reduced availability of the Heated Second Row Outboard Seats feature will receive a $200 MSRP credit.
A similar issue is affecting certain units of the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500, which is also offering limited availability of the Heated Second Row Outboard Seats feature.
The global microchip shortage has affected the availability of other 2022 GMC Sierra HD features as well, including HD Radio, which has been deleted from the feature list outright, as GM Authority covered previously. For the moment, there is no clear indication whether or not HD Radio will return to the feature list during the 2022 model year for the GMC Sierra HD.
Production of the 2022 GMC Sierra HD at the GM Flint Assembly plant in Michigan began on July 12th. At the moment, General Motors is seeking to increase the number of temporary workers at the facility. Production of the GMC Sierra HD is expected to ramp up later this year following the re-opening of the GM Oshawa plant in Ontario, Canada.

Body - Non-Approval of Clipping For Collision Repair

INFORMATION

Bulletin No.: 07-08-98-001A

Date: January 28, 2009

Subject:

Non-approval of "Clipping" (Sectioning of Two Vehicles) For Collision Repair

Models:

2000-2010 GM Passenger Cars and Trucks (Including Saturn and Saab)

2003-2010 HUMMER H2, H3, H3T

Supercede:

This bulletin is being revised to add model years through 2010. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-08-98-001 (Section 08 - Body and

Accessories).

General Motors does not approve the use of "clipping" to repair collision damage to vehicles. In the collision repair industry, "clipping" refers to

cutting two damaged vehicles through the windshield pillars, the rocker panels, and across the floor pan and joining the undamaged portions from

these vehicles to make the repair.

The use of "clipping" voids GM's New Vehicle Limited Warranty (and any variety of the GM Protection Plan, as well as GM's new vehicle service

part and corrosion warranties) for each part in the clip.

GM does not sanction clipping repair because it cuts across the major load-bearing paths of a vehicle and can reduce the structural integrity of the

repaired vehicle. This is extremely critical because of the increase in the use of Advance High Strength Steel (AHSS). Improper repairs can lead to

vehicle performance issues related to noise, vibration and handling problems.

GM recommends replacing body components at factory seams. When applicable, GM will provide a specific service part for collision repair frames,

or provide repair information on how to create specific parts from a complete service assembly. Frame repair procedures for select GM vehicles are

available at http://www.goodwrench.com/gmgoodwrenchjsp/gmspo/techrepair_index.jsp. These parts and procedures provide a practical and

cost-effective alternative to clipping. GM provides vehicle specific collision repair procedures which are developed to be in a location and fashion

2010 Cadillac Truck Escalade/ESV RWD V8-6.2L Page 226

that will yield panel strength comparable to the original panel strength. Replacing damaged parts of a vehicle designed to crush in a collision may

reduce occupant protection in a future collision.

GM has not tested or validated a "clipped vehicle" repair; therefore, GM cannot endorse this type of repair or confirm the crash performance during

a subsequent collision. GM recommends the use of genuine GM parts in repairs to help ensure the vehicle is returned to pre-collision condition.

10 Biggest News Stories of the Week: Ford F-150 Hybrid Outdistances Jeep Grand Cherokee L

Text
Not only is the first-ever hybrid variant of the Ford F-150 the most powerful incarnation of the bestselling pickup truck’s 2021 edition, but it boasts impressive EPA fuel economy ratings — 24 mpg across the board for city, highway and combined estimates on four-wheel-drive models like the one Cars.com bought for its long-term test-car fleet after honoring it with the Best of 2021 award. To paraphrase Ira Gershwin’s lyrics, “Nice mileage if you can get it.” Unfortunately, despite some 12,000 miles of driving under varied conditions since the January purchase, Cars.com editors and reviewers have thus far been unsuccessful in achieving that 24 mpg benchmark on a single tank fill-up … not a once.

In the No. 1 news story on Cars.com’s countdown of most popular articles of the week, we provide a full update on all our F-150 fuel economy figures logged in those first 12,000 miles. In that span, the total average mileage calculates to 16.6 mpg, which is a whopping 31% off the EPA pace. Now, granted, roughly a quarter of the total mileage was recorded while towing various trailers, the most mpg-mitigating of which was an Airstream camper — but that doesn’t negate the fact that the best single tank fill-up our editors have recorded yet in real-world driving has been 22.4 mpg.
For the full download on Cars.com’s mileage results with the 2021 Ford F-150 hybrid, follow the link below to our most read news story of the week.
Running a distant second on this week’s countdown is Cars.com reviewer Jennifer Geiger’s recommendations to Jeep for how it could make its all-new-for-2021 Grand Cherokee L three-row SUV even more accommodating to families. After putting the Grand Cherokee L’s top-tier Summit trim through its parents-and-pipsqueaks paces, Geiger concluded that the big SUV could better endear itself to kids by offering the fantastic Uconnect Theater touchscreen-based entertainment system found in its Stellantis sister brand’s Chrysler Pacifica; to parents by adding lower Latch anchors to the third row for the purpose of installing child-safety seats in the wayback for greater family flexibility; and similarly by making head restraints removable or adjustable to prevent interference with car-seat installation.
Follow the link below to this week’s No. 2 article of the week for Geiger’s full family-focused critique of the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L.
Rounding out the week’s top five are a report on how continued pandemic-precipitated inventory shortages have narrowed the price gap between the average new and, for example, 1-year-old used vehicle to just over 5%, at No. 3; Cars.com reviewer Mike Hanley’s comprehensive critique of the updated-for-2021 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, at No. 4; and a report on the stop-sale issued by Volkswagen for some all-wheel-drive 2022 Taos SUVs, on which owners have reported the engines shutting off upon stopping, at No. 5.
Beyond that, we’ve got headlines on the Hyundai Santa Fe, Volkswagen Taos, Kia Carnival, Nissan Leaf and Volkswagen Tiguan, so don’t stop reading till the digits double. Here are the top 10 news stories Cars.com readers couldn’t get enough of in the past week:

Circuit/System Description

The engine control module (ECM) supplies voltage to each fuel injector on the injector high voltage supply circuits. The ECM energizes each fuel

injector by grounding the high voltage control circuit of the fuel injector. The ECM monitors the status of the injector high voltage supply circuits

and the fuel injector high voltage control circuits. When a fuel injector circuit condition is detected by the ECM, the affected fuel injector(s) is

disabled.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* The engine is running.

* The ignition voltage is between 11-18 V.
