GMC Sierra 1500 vs. GMC Sierra HD: Visual Comparison

As GM Authority explained previously, GMC Sierra HD buyers don’t simply want a bigger GMC Sierra 1500 when it comes to exterior styling. When buyers step up to the bigger heavy-duty pickup model, they expect a number of things beyond the obvious increase in capability; they also expect a unique aesthetic that stands apart from the light-duty models. As such, the GMC Sierra HD offers a unique look compared to the 1500 models. Here’s what makes it different.
For the sake of this comparison, we’re placing the 2019 / 2020 / 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali side-by-side with the 2020 / 2021 / 2022 GMC Sierra HD Denali and picking ’em apart with regard to styling, starting with the front fascia.
Before we start, we should note that the only part that’s shared between this generation of the Sierra 1500 (all-new for the 2019 model year) and Sierra HD (all-new for the 2020 model year) is the roof. Other than that, essentially all other exterior parts – including the cabs and body panels – are different between the two trucks.
For starters, the grille is different between both trucks, with that of the GMC Sierra HD models offering wider spacing between the three horizontal grille slats. There’s also a different shape for the upper and lower grille sections of the primary grille. The GMC Sierra 1500 also has a slightly different shape with regard to the headlamp housings, and the lower section of the fascia is along with the fog lamps are entirely different between the two models as well.
Higher up, we find a different hood between the two models, with the HD model featuring a prominent hood scoop for the HD model.
Moving over to the front three-quarters view, we find the GMC Sierra HD doubles down on its dimensional increase with a number of changes compared to the GMC Sierra 1500. The wheel arches, wheel design, window design, and side-view mirrors all help to differentiate the heavy-duty models as being aesthetically bolder than the light-duty Sierra.
The same can be said about the profile view, where the GMC Sierra 1500 has a rising kink at the C-pillar plus a noticeable character line along the doors. Additionally, the HD model features the prominent BedStep at the forward-most point of the box, which makes it easier to access the bed from the side of the truck. The Sierra 1500, by comparison does not offer the BedStep.
The rear three-quarters angle provides a perfect shot of the rear fenders of the Sierra 3500HD, which in this case is a dually (dual rear wheel) truck. They look positively enormous next to the single-wheel setup of the light duty model.
The tail lights of both models appear to be the same, and both trucks feature the CornerStep integrated in to the corners of the rear bumper.
Finally, the rear end isn’t all too different between the Sierra HD and light-duty 1500 models, unless of course we’re talking about the dual rear wheel configuration and associated styling elements that come as a result of that, like the fenders. But beyond that, the lower fascia, bumper, and MultiPro Tailgate are similar.
Additionally, the Sierra HD only comes with a single-exit exhaust mounted to the passenger-side of the truck, no matter the engine – 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline or 6.6L V8 L5P turbo-diesel Duramax. Meanwhile, the Sierra 1500 offers a single-exit exhaust on some of the entry-level models, while mid-tier and higher-end models feature integrated dual exhaust.
Clearly, there are some pretty major styling differences between the GMC Sierra HD and GMC Sierra 1500. That said, the family styling resemblances are also undeniable, and it shouldn’t be too difficult to pick these two apart from a distance while recognizing that they are both GMCs.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC



* The condition for setting the DTC no longer exists.



* A history DTC will clear once 100 malfunction-free ignition cycles have occurred.



Diagnostic Aid



Note: The following diagnostic aids apply for both current and history DTCs.



An incorrectly installed CPA or incorrectly seated connector can cause a shorting bar to short both control circuits together. Check the connectors



and CPAs if a DTC with symptom byte 02 or 0E is set, to ensure the shorting bars are not causing the circuits to be shorted together. Shorting bars



are used in the locations listed below:



* Passenger instrument panel air bag



* Driver and passenger seat side air bags



* Left and right roof rail air bags



* Driver and passenger seat belt retractor pretensioners



* SDM



* Inline connectors - on the side of the harness connector



* Harness side of the SDM connector



Terminal fretting or incorrectly seated connector can cause an open/high resistance condition. Check the circuit terminals for fretting or incorrectly



seated connector if a DTC with symptom byte 04 or 0D is set. If DTCs of deployment loops which are in the seat DTC B0014 and B0021, can



occur because of stress or damage to the harness due to seat movement. Move the seat to the full extend of travel while using the scan tool to



observe deployment type loop parameters.



If the pretensioner, passenger instrument panel or side air bag has inflated under unexpected conditions and/or DTC with symptom byte 01 is set,



check both control circuits for a short to voltage.

     Jeep hasn’t had a three-row SUV in its lineup since the Commander was dropped from the range following the 2010 model year, but two three-row models have arrived this year: an extended-length Grand Cherokee L version of the mid-size SUV that seats up to seven, and the new full-size Wagoneer that seats up to eight.  Related: More Chicago Auto Show Coverage The number of seating rows alone doesn’t tell the whole story when it comes to interior space and comfort, so we checked out each row of both SUVs at the 2021 Chicago Auto Show. Here’s what we found.  First Row One of the big differences between the Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee L becomes apparent before you get into the driver’s seat, and that’s their step-in heights. Among non-air suspension models, the Wagoneer’s height is 2.6 inches higher. The two SUVs use different types of construction: The Wagoneer has a body attached to a frame while the Grand Cherokee L has a unibody design.

     Once seated, the main difference between the two SUVs from a space standpoint is the width between you and the front passenger. In the Wagoneer, you’re much further from them, which gives front-seat occupants more physical separation with a wide center console. The Grand Cherokee L has a slimmer center console, and you’re closer to your passenger. Look at the width of each SUV to see why: The Wagoneer is nearly 6 inches wider than the Grand Cherokee L, with a body width of 83.6 inches to the Grand Cherokee L’s 77.9.  Second Row The same open, spacious feeling of the Wagoneer’s first row carries over to its second row, which benefits from the SUV’s extra width compared with the Grand Cherokee L. Both of the SUVs on the show floor had second-row captain’s chairs instead of a three-person bench seat. This drops each SUV’s seat count by one, but the benefit in the Wagoneer is a wide center walk-thru that makes it easier to reach the third row. The Grand Cherokee L had an optional center console between its captain’s chairs, but you can tilt the seats forward to access the third row. The captain’s chairs in both SUVs recline and slide forward and backward.

     Third Row The Wagoneer’s larger overall size makes a big difference in the third row. It has nearly 2 inches more headroom and more than 6 inches of additional legroom than the Grand Cherokee L, and it’s significantly more comfortable for adult passengers. The seat cushion in the Wagoneer is a little short, but it wouldn’t prevent adults from riding comfortably on an extended trip.  It’s a much different story in the Grand Cherokee L; the seat cushion is nearly on the floor, resulting in a knees-up seating position that’s not comfortable. The seat might work for smaller children, but adults won’t want to spend much time back there.

2021 Chevy Tahoe Diesel, Chevy Suburban Diesel Demand Steady At Six Percent

A few months ago, GM Authority exclusively reported that the optional 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine in the 2021 Chevy Tahoe and 2021 Chevy Suburban accounted for six percent of the overall sales mix in March. Today, we’re back to follow up on those figures.
Demand for the optional turbo-diesel LM2 engine continues to hold steady at six percent of sales for both full-size Chevy SUVs, sources familiar with The General’s go-to-market plans tell GMA.
The 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine is a new option for the all-new 2021 Chevy Tahoe and 2021 Chevy Suburban, and only became available to order toward the end of 2020, several months after the new models started production.
In the 2021 Chevy Tahoe and 2021 Chevy Suburban, the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine is rated at 277 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm. It’s mated to the GM Hydra-Matic 10L80 10-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine option is available on every trim level except the off-road-oriented Z71, which features a unique fascia treatment that obstructs to diesel engine’s intercooler piping, as GM Authority covered previously.
Besides the optional LM2 engine, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe and 2021 Chevy Suburban are also offered with the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gas engine and naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gas engine, both of which also pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
U.S. Chevy Tahoe sales for the first half of the 2021 calendar year increased 40 percent to 50,946 units, while Chevy Suburban sales increased 49 percent to 24,516 units during the same timeframe. On a combined basis, U.S. sales of both models increased 42.57 percent to 75,462 units. A six percent take rate of those 75,462 units equates to about 4,500 units of Tahoe and Suburban with the 3.0L LM2 diesel engine.

 Nissan Motor The new Note Aura Nismo equipped with an electric powertrain will be released and will be available in Japan later this year. It also announced the start of domestic sales of the Note Aura, which was announced in June this year.
The Nissan Note Aura Nismo is based on the Note Aura of the Japanese automobile manufacturer and incorporates the spirit and styling of the performance brand NISMO. The vehicle is touted for its next-generation design, agile response and handling, and smooth acceleration.

It has an urban, streamlined look and features the iconic Nismo brand’s iconic bright red layered double wing and low-wide silhouette. The Nismo emblem, redesigned with matt chrome and matte red accents, emphasizes the vehicle’s stance. The Nissan Note Aura Nismo rides on 17-inch aluminum wheels that guarantee aerodynamic performance. 
The vehicle is available in a total of five body color variations, including four two-tone combinations. Inside, dark tones and red accents are mixed. The sporty seat adds sportiness to the cabin, along with a seat cover made from a combination of exclusive fabrics and synthetic leather. The seat also features an embroidered Nismo logo and red or gray contrast stitching.

The clutch pressure control (PC) solenoid 3 is part of the control solenoid valve assembly, which has no serviceable components. The PC solenoid

4-5-6 clutch. The transmission control module (TCM) calculates gear ratio based on the RPM signals from the input speed sensor (ISS) and the

The battery saver mode reduces the parasitic load of some modules during overseas shipment or during vehicle storage conditions. This improves



the drain time on the battery (up to 70 days without the battery going dead). When the vehicle is in transport/storage, some features may have



reduced functionality while in the battery saver mode, such as disabling the Remote Function Actuator or content theft features.



The battery saver mode incorporates a latching relay that when enabled disconnects some modules from their ignition off power or memory power



sources. For vehicles built before the mid-year 2010 model year or not flashed with 2010 model year, or newer, software, battery saver mode is



initiated by starting the vehicle and then turning the ignition key into the crank position or pushing the push button start switch (if equipped) for



greater than 15 seconds. For vehicles built after the mid-year 2010 model year or flashed with 2010 model year, or newer, software, battery saver

If you are thinking of purchasing a pickup truck and decide that you'll be driving a Toyota, you have two options: the mid-size 2021 Tacoma or the bigger, full-size 2022 Toyota Tundra. They may have their strengths and weaknesses, but ultimately you would need to choose what is right for you and this could depend on test driving both.
For now, let's look at the basics and see which of the two could be your best buy.
The Tacoma offers 159-horsepower, four-cylinder and six-speed automatic transmission, but it uses up fuel as it works those long hours. Its four-wheel drive model, Tacoma TRD Pro, cruises through 278-hp in a V6 engine with manual transmission ready for off-road sorties, the Car Connection noted.

The 2022 Toyota Tundra, on the other hand, is powered by the twin-turbo V6 iForce MAX engine, which is expected to be the same twin-turbo V6 engine found in the 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser. The Tundra's twin-turbo V6 engine has the same 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque as the 2022 Land Cruiser. This is an improvement over the current 5.7-liter V8 that has 381 hp and 401 lb-ft V8 engine, Road Show reported.
The 2022 Toyota Tundra has a distinct advantage over the 2021 Tacoma in these areas, touting 11,000 pounds to 13,000 pounds in towing capacity as against the Tacoma maxing out at 6,800 pounds, the Car Connection revealed.   The Tundra also has a maximum payload capacity of 1,730 pounds, which is about the same as the Tacoma's 1,620 pounds.
The 2022 Tundra offers Toyota's latest safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and multimedia offerings such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and an improved infotainment system. The 2021 Tacoma also has advanced safety features like the automatic high beams and dynamic radar cruise control. Both utilize a 7.0-inch or 8.0-inch touchscreens, depending on trim level.
The 2021 Toyota Tacoma has TRD wheels wrapped in Goodyear all-terrain tires with an aggressive sidewall design that is perfect for both on-road and off-road performance. It also has as an impressive front grille with door handles, rear bumper, color-keyed surround and power outside mirrors.
The 2022 Toyota Tundra, on the other hand, offers an edgy, awesome design. It has LED headlights and running lights positioned above a vertical air intake. Its massive grille has three LED light strips: one below the Toyota logo, two on the outer edges above the bumper.
Indeed, the front grille design gives an impression of a fierce roadster. A fresh set of TRD Pro-specific wheels are also placed with 285/65 Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires, Car and Driver noted.
As expected, the Tundra is definitely the more expensive Toyota truck model. It has a base starting price of $36,000, with the TRD Pro model will be selling at $50,000, Car and Driver further said. The 2021 Tacoma has the base SR model costing $26,400, reaching as high as $44,325 for the full-featured TRD Pro model, Toyota said.

Circuit/System Description



The shift control solenoid (SLC1) is installed on the front valve body. The solenoid linearly control hydraulic pressure in response to signals output



from the transmission control module TCM. Through this, the SLC1 controls operating hydraulic pressure to the clutch 1 for smooth shifting.



According to each shift control solenoid assembly, the transmission shifts from 1st gear into 6th gear and vice versa. As a fail-safe function, if any



shift control solenoid assembly abnormality occurs, the TCM will disable the current to the solenoids.
