Celebrating its world debut at the Shanghai Auto Show, the Lexus LM is a flagship luxury MPV developed specifically for the Chinese market. However, it will go on sale on other Asian markets too 鈥?unfortunately, Lexus didn鈥檛 announce plans to offer it outside the world鈥檚 most populous continent. Lexus says the new LM integrates oriental car philosophy, combining unique craftsmanship with hospitality and comfortable driving experience. While it looks quite attractive on the outside, the Lexus LM is all about the interior. The new LM luxury minivan is showcased in Shanghai in a four-seat configuration that effectively turns the rear passenger compartment into a business-class lounge. The front and rear rows are separated by a wall fitted with a glass screen that can be raised and lowered. The partition also features a big flat-screen TV and other amenities. But the executive seats are the main ingredient of the Lexus LM鈥檚 opulent rear passenger compartment.
They feature heating, ventilation, and massaging functions, as well as a variety of adjustments. They鈥檙e filled with low-density urethane foam which allows them to combine 鈥渋deal support with couch-like comfort,鈥?according to Lexus. Interestingly, the cooling function is done by suction ventilation. The 26-inch display in the partition wall can be connected to devices such as smartphones and tablets and supports Blu-ray playback. Other features include a 19-speaker sound system, a 14-liter refrigerator that can hold two bottles of champagne or wine, and a touch display located between the rear seats to control the TV, seats, climate control, and sound system. Lexus says the LM will also be available in a seven-seat configuration featuring two separate luxury seats for the first two rows and three seats across the third row. The seats located on the second row will be the most comfortable and will feature larger, more supportive armrests. As for powertrains, there will be two available models (LM 350 and LM 300h) with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The LM 350 features a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine while the LM 300h utilizes a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid system.
M2 came out 5yrs ago and is in its last Model Year. Im happy the reviews are very positive and i think aftermarket will be huge. If it sells well then hopefully we will get more extreme versions and MANUAL! Going back to all your previous posts, how do you feel about stock Supra beating 2019 M2 Competition in acceleration, handling and braking tests? You know, these braking and acceleration tests are getting pretty much obsolete for 99% of people. I had an m235i, now have m2, and will soon have the new Supra. I really don't care if one beats another to 60 by half a second, you're not even going to feel it in real world driving. I like the M2 over m235i due to more aggressive looks and better engine/exhaust sound. Both are very much fun cars for me, and I'm sure Supra will not disappoint either.
A "quick review" (14 minutes) of one of the most respectable car youtubers out there. No surprise, his review offers a unique view about the car. Nice and fair first driving impressions. Even points out why the Supra is more special than the current M offerings from BMW (of course the only direct comparison should be with the new Z4). But like I said already, it took Toyota to really make a pure BMW sports car for once (even without a manual option for now). But if you only care about crazy numbers, there are plenty of M offerings available that are more practical than the Supra. Maybe BMW can learn from Toyota and add some feel back in the next M4/2. Toyota supra vs. Porsche 718 cayman vs. Interesting comparisons, I must say the Supra is looking like the best bang for the buck in these tests. Good read quoted the actual numbers below, rest of write up is in article. Despite their different personalities, their performance numbers are almost identical.
We triple-checked the numbers to be sure. Zero to 60 mph: 3.9, 4.0, 4.1 seconds鈥擲upra, M2, Cayman. Quarter mile: 12.4 seconds at 114.7 mph, 12.5 seconds at 111.2 mph, 12.6 seconds at 110.3 mph鈥擬2, Supra, Cayman. Skidpad: 1.01 g, 1.01 g, 1.03 g鈥擲upra, M2, Cayman. Figure eight: 24.0 seconds at 0.83 g, 24.0 second at 0.81 g, 24.1 seconds at 0.82 g鈥擲upra, Cayman, M2. The only major deviation? 3k by going with a manual. 3k by going with a manual. I find the numbers surprising too. I like the M2 for the engine and manual but I rather the Supra body I don't care for back seats as anyone has yet to sit in backseat of my MKIV. M2 body is too close to tons of BMW sedans around but that's just me. Looks like the Toyota folks already crashed one at the ring. Supra beating the Cayman in the latest MT comparison is surprising, but props to Toyota for doing something BMW has been incapable of with the Z4 (against the Boxster). It really did take BMW and Toyota to collaborate to beat Porsche though. The M2 is great on its own, but will never match the Supra's and Cayman's pure sports car feel. With the numbers being so close for all three, it's all about the feel and we all know BMW has forgotten how to properly put steering feel. I don't even see the point of putting the M2 in the comparison. Honestly, there are no subcompact RWD sedans in the market for it to compete. Some people might cross shop by price, but I can think of much better competition from the aging C7 Corvette. A short comparison between the Supra, Cayman GTS, and the M2. Sounds like the Cayman GTS is the benchmark, the M2 is a "riot," and the Supra has qualities of both. Reviews have been more positive than I expected.
