The 2020 Mini John Cooper Works Clubman and Countryman are reportedly going to be much more powerful than the current models thanks to a new, 302 hp four-cylinder engine. Mini has been working on the new performance-focused Clubman and Countryman for quite some time, and according to Motoring File, the duo will feature the same powertrain as the BMW X2 M35i. BMW hasn鈥檛 specified what engine the new Clubman and Countryman JCW will use. The X2 M35i engine, officially dubbed the B48A20T1, displaces 2.0 liters and features a turbocharger for an output of 302 hp between 5000 rpm and 6250 rpm, while torque sits at 450 Nm from 1750 rpm to 4500 rpm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission and BMW鈥檚 xDrive AWD system. If the new JCW Mini Clubman and Countryman adopt the same engine, they will be significantly quicker than the outgoing models which utilize a 228 hp four-pot. Unfortunately, the inclusion of this new engine and all-wheel drive system may see the British automaker abandon a manual gearbox in favor of an 8-speed auto. While that鈥檚 sad, there鈥檚 talk that Mini will fit a Torsen limited-slip differential up front, which should help with power delivery and improve agility and handling.
The 2017 Porsche Macan- a 5 seater luxury crossover SUV that sits and drives like a sports car. The Macan certainly lives up to its name- aptly derived from the Indonesian word for 鈥渢iger鈥? going 0-60 in just 4.6 seconds. The curvy front fascia heavily resembles its sportier siblings, and its stellar performance is superior to any of its compact crossover competitors. The new Macan appears to be low to the ground and wide, providing a more intimate relationship with the road and a splendidly thrilling drive. A visual highlight of the Macan is the sideblades. Not only do they set a sporty accent, their design pays homage to the beloved 918 Spyder. The proportions of the doors appear narrower and the flanks seem much sleeker and sportier. The classic Porsche sports car design is particularly prominent at the rear: slender at the top, widening into broad shoulders above the rear wheels. The Macan now has four turbocharged engine choices starting with a 2.0-liter flat-four that produces 252 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque while achieving 20/25 mpg city/highway; whilst all other Macans are EPA rated at 17/23 mpg. The Macan comes standard with all-wheel drive and with Porsche鈥檚 impressive seven-speed twin-clutch automatic. The 7-speed PDK transmission changes gear instantaneously with no interruption in the flow of power. Whenever a particular gear is engaged, the next gear is already preselected. This uninhibited shifting results in maximum control- as well as an exceptionally pleasurable driving experience.
136,500. The entry-level model will be the GT 63 Coupe which features a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 577 hp and 799 Nm of torque. It is connected to a nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT transmission and a performance-oriented all-wheel drive system. This enables the hatchback to rocket from 0-96 km/h in approximately 3.3 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 310 km/h. Mercedes didn鈥檛 say much else about the US-spec model, but it will come standard with AMG Performance seats, a rear-axle steering system and power rear spoiler. 159,000 and it features a more powerful V8 engine that develops 630 hp and 899 Nm of torque. Thanks to the extra power, the dash from 0-96 km/h drops to approximately 3.1 seconds and the top speed climbs to 313 km/h. Besides the more powerful engine, the S variant has yellow brake calipers and an all-wheel drive system with a dedicated drift mode. The model also comes standard with an AMG performance exhaust and the AMG Dynamic Plus Package which includes active engine mounts, a RACE mode and special steering wheel controls. In mid-2019, Mercedes will introduce the GT 53 Coupe. It features a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with EQ boost technology. The engine develops 429 hp and 520 Nm of torque, while the electric motor can contribute an additional 21 hp. Pricing remains unconfirmed, but the Porsche Panamera 4S competitor runs from 0-96 km/h in approximately 4.4 seconds before topping out at 280 km/h. Unsurprisingly, it鈥檚 not as well equipped as the aforementioned models as it has a traditional nine-speed automatic transmission and an AMG sport suspension with steel springs.
