Repair Instructions
Important:
* Perform the Service Fast Learn Adapts (See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning) following all transmission related repairs.
Input Speed Sensor Replacement (See: Powertrain Management/Transmission Control Systems/Sensors and Switches - Transmission and
Drivetrain/Sensors and Switches - A/T/Transmission Speed Sensor/Service and Repair/Input Speed Sensor Replacement)
* Before replacing the TCM, perform the Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Inspection (See:
Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General
Diagnostics/6T70/6T75 - Automatic Transmission/Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Inspection).
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (See: Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

Circuit/System Description
The input speed sensor (ISS) is a hall-effect type sensor. The ISS mounts to the inside of the automatic transmission case assembly and connects to
the control solenoid valve assembly through a 2-wire harness and connector. The sensor faces the reluctor wheel which is attached to the 4-5-6
clutch and 3-5-R clutch housing. The sensor receives 8.3-9.3 volts on the ISS supply voltage circuit from the transmission control module (TCM).
As the 4-5-6 clutch and 3-5-R clutch housing rotates, the sensor produces a signal frequency based on the teeth of the reluctor wheel. This signal is
transmitted through the ISS signal circuit to the TCM. The TCM uses the ISS signal to determine line pressure, transmission shift patterns, torque
converter clutch (TCC) slip speed, and gear ratio.
