Conditions for Clearing the DTC
DTCs P061A and P061B are Type A DTCs.
Reference Information
DTC Type Reference
Powertrain Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Type Definitions (See: Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions/Powertrain Diagnostic Trouble Code
(DTC) Type Definitions)
Circuit/System Verification
1. Clear the DTC information.
2. Ignition OFF for 1 minute.
3. Ignition ON, start and drive the vehicle.
4. Retest for DTCs P061A and P061B.
Circuit/System Testing
P061A
Program the PIM with the latest software version and recheck for DTCs.
If the DTC resets after programming or if the PIM already contains the latest software version, replace the PIM.
P061B
1. DTC P061B may set when Hybrid Battery power output is limited. A reduced hybrid battery power condition is most noticeable during high
electrical loads such as Autostop to Autostart transitions. Inspect for hybrid battery DTCs or conditions that would reduce available hybrid
battery power such as:
* Hybrid Battery Module undervoltage / P0AFA and various DTCs
* Hybrid Battery Module overvoltage / various DTCs
* Hybrid Battery Module voltage variation / P0AFA, P0BBD
* Hybrid Battery overtemperature / P0C32
* Hybrid Battery exposure to extreme cold
瀚慖f any of the above DTCs are set or conditions are suspected, diagnose them prior to diagnosing this DTC.
2. Program the PIM with the latest software version and recheck for DTCs.
瀚慖f the DTC resets after programming or if the PIM already contains the latest software version, replace the Hybrid Battery. If the DTC
resets, replace the PIM.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (See: Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
* Control Module References (See: Testing and Inspection/Programming and Relearning) for PIM replacement, setup, and programming.
* Drive Motor Generator Battery Replacement and Shipping Preparation () for Hybrid Battery replacement.
P061B
DTC P061A or P061B
Diagnostic Instructions
* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (See: Testing and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview/Diagnostic System
Check - Vehicle) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis (See: Testing and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview/Strategy Based Diagnosis) for an
overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions (See: Testing and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview/Diagnostic Procedure
Instructions) provides an overview of each diagnostic category.
