DTC C12E1 00
- Device Voltage Low - EBCM 12V
Diagnostic Fault Information
Typical Scan Tool Data
Circuit/System Description
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) monitors the 12 V system voltage to make sure that the voltage stays within the proper range.
Damage to components, and incorrect data input can occur when the voltage is out of range.
Conditions for Running the DTC
The ignition is ON.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The 12 V battery voltage available to the EBCM is less than 9 V for 100 msec.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* The traction control system (TCS) and vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) are disabled for the duration of the ignition cycle.
* The EBCM requests the MIL to be turned ON.
* The BRAKE indicator turns ON.
* The antilock brake system (ABS) indicator turns ON.
* The vehicle dynamics caution (VDC) indicator turns ON.
* The driver information center (DIC) displays the SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL message.
* The DIC displays the SERVICE STABILITRAK message.
* The DIC displays the SERVICE BRAKES SOON message.
* The ECM sets DTC C12E1 00.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The DTC will pass when the battery voltage is greater than 9.5 V for 100 msec.
* The EBCM automatically clears a history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles.
* The indicators and DIC messages turn OFF when the DTC is cleared, or on the next malfunction-free ignition cycle.
Diagnostic Aids
A low voltage DTC in multiple modules indicates a concern in the charging system. Refer to DC Power Conversion Test (See: Hybrid Drive
Systems/Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/Hybrid Controls/DC Power Conversion Test).
