The all new Cornish Pilot Gig Association archive is now being uploaded for all to enjoy.
The archive is the result of eighteen months of work by the Pulling Together The Past team and contains over 37,000 heritage items, over 32,000 items are photographs but the archive also includes films, audio recordings and documents.
The project team has also created over 50 filmed interviews with members of the gig rowing community. The first full interview has now been uploaded. The interview features Gill King and Annabelle Bennetts of Newquay Rowing Club who share their memories of their gig rowing successes over the years and their struggle to establish a ladies’ crew at Newquay in the 1970’s
The online archive is being hosted by cornishmemory.com.
