Bugatti Brings Divo Home To Paris For Its European Debut

Now Europe can take a gander at Bugatti's ultimate creation.

When the Chiron was first unveiled, we didn't think Bugatti had any way to top it. Then, the French automaker revealed the new, limited edition Divo hypercar at Monterey Car Week and we had to eat our words. The Divo is Bugatti's most hardcore hyper with a focus on track performance instead of just raw speed.

To that end, Bugatti has focused on making the Divo handle with fine-tuned aerodynamics as well as modified suspension and chassis settings. Don't worry, because the Divo will still be fast thanks to the same 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine from the Chiron producing a whopping 1,479 horsepower.

Bugatti first debuted the Divo at the Quail in Monterey, California, but now the car is making its European debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. Even though Bugatti is owned by Volkswagen, the company still embraces its French roots and could think of no better place to debut the Divo in Europe. One day before the Motor Show began, select media and customers were given an exclusive first look at the car in the French capital.

The list of future Divo owners is a short one because Bugatti will only build 40 examples at around $5.8 million each. For that price, owners will be treated to a 236 mph top speed, 1.6 g of lateral acceleration, and a more "fun" driving experience than the already bonkers Chiron. All 40 Divo examples will be built at the company's headquarters in Molsheim, Alsace, with deliveries starting in 2020. As with most cars of this price level and rarity, we wouldn't be surprised to see a few sell well over the asking price before cars are even delivered.
