First SL Of The New Series Delivered At The Mercedes-Benz Bremen Customer Center

The first example of the new SL series has been recently delivered to its owner at the Mercedes-Benz Customer Center in Bremen. Klaus Hahn, a furniture store owner from Solingen, Germany, came along with his wife to pick up the roadster. Hahn. He opted for an SL 350 version in metallic Cavansit Blue paint job. In 1952, the forefather of the SL was taking part in international grands prix as racing car. In 1954, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the first street-legal model: the legendary 300 SL Gullwing. In 1963, 1971, 1989 and 2001 further generations of the sports roadster followed, which were first produced at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Sindelfingen and, since 1989, at the Bremen facility too. The new-generation Mercedes-Benz SL takes the meaning of the famous letters "SL" - super, lightweight - literally. For the first time Mercedes-Benz has implemented an all-aluminium bodyshell in a series-production model. Only very few components consist of other materials. The designers use the even lighter magnesium for the cover behind the tank. High-strength steel tubing is integrated in the A-pillars for safety reasons.

The aluminium structure is not only lighter but also proves superior to the predecessor's steel construction in terms of rigidity, safety and comfort. Compared to the previous model, the new SL 350 is 140 kilograms lighter, whereas the new SL 500 weighs 125 kilograms less. Mercedes-Benz offers the new SL in two distinct versions: SL 350 with a V6 engine and SL 500 with a V8 biturbo unit. The new SL features two world premieres: the FrontBass system provides a concert hall atmosphere even in an open car. It uses the free space in the hollow aluminum structures in front of the footwell as a resonating chamber for the woofer. MAGIC VISION CONTROL is a new and highly efficient wiper/washer system. The innovative wiper blade concept always applies the washer fluid just in front of the wiper blade lip via the channels integrated into the blade - in both directions of wipe. For the first time, a fully heated wiper blade is available as an option that prevents snow or ice from forming on the blade in winter. The HANDS-FREE ACCESS system is another Mercedes-Benz innovation which provides hands-free, contactless operation of the boot lid. The driver simply moves their foot in the vicinity of the rear bumper. Mercedes-Benz is the only car maker to offer a system which not only automatically opens the boot lid but closes it as well. With more than 12,800 employees, the Bremen plant is the largest private employer in the region.

The Mercedes AMG C43 - with its twin-turbo V6 - slots between the AMG C63 and the C300. Mercedes-Benz certified pre-owned vehicles come with the balance of the original four-year/50,000-mile new-car warranty, plus an additional one-year/unlimited-mileage warranty. If the new-car warranty has expired, you鈥檒l just receive the one-year/unlimited-mileage warranty. Every Mercedes-Benz CPO vehicle must pass a 164-point inspection. Additional benefits like towing and roadside assistance may be available, so read the Mercedes-Benz warranty page carefully. Among luxury-brand CPO programs, Mercedes鈥?ranks as one of the most comprehensive. Other luxury carmakers with excellent CPO programs include Lexus and Infiniti. How Safe Is the C-Class? The 2017 Mercedes C-Class earned a perfect five-star overall crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the frontal crash and rollover tests. The car also earned the top score of Good in five Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash tests, and it was named a 2017 IIHS Top Safety Pick.

The C-Class has a ton of advanced safety and driver assistance features, including several that are uncommon in the luxury small car class. Crosswind assist helps keep the vehicle stable when it detects strong winds (when you're driving through the mountains or during a rough storm, for example). Driver drowsiness monitoring can detect signs that you are not fully alert and will suggest you take a break. Mercedes' Pre-Safe feature tightens the seat belts and closes the windows (and sunroof) if it detects an imminent crash. A rearview camera is standard in sedan models and available in coupe and cabriolet versions. Other available features include blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, pedestrian detection, traffic sign recognition, and active park assist, which can size up a parking spot and then help you park. Which Is Better: 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class or 2017 BMW 3 Series? Along with its brand mates, the 2 Series and the 4 Series, the 2017 BMW 3 Series has some of the best overall performance in the class. Like the C-Class, it has a lineup of engines that range from adequate to jaw-dropping, and handling is the perfect mix of sportiness and comfort.

The Mercedes has the edge when it comes to interior quality, but the BMW holds its own in that regard. BMW鈥檚 iDrive infotainment system is also regarded as incredibly user-friendly, in contrast to the confounding operation of the C-Class鈥?system. With a slightly lower average list price, a better predicted reliability rating, and lower ownership costs, the 3 Series is the superior choice. Which Is Better: 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class or 2017 Audi A4? The fully redesigned 2017 Audi A4 is one of the most well-rounded cars in its class. Its luxurious interior goes toe-to-toe with the C-Class and offers plenty of passenger space throughout. The A4鈥檚 standard infotainment system is intuitive and includes cool features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The A4 has slightly better performance than the C-Class; this Audi can鈥檛 match the Benz鈥檚 beefy engines, but it has composed handling and a plush ride. Ample critical praise, relatively low ownership costs (for the class), and good safety and predicted reliability scores help propel the A4 to a high overall ranking.
