The Front Bumpers Have Been Redesigned

The Front Bumpers Have Been Redesigned

The refreshed C-Class combines emotionality with intelligence. The vehicle's appearance is defined in particular by its front, along with the design of the headlamps and tail lights. The front bumpers have been redesigned, and feature a chrome-plated trim strip. The redesign lends the standard exterior a more dynamic character. With the optional Sport Package, the vehicle includes a diamond radiator grille, an AMG front apron with new geometry, and a rear diffuser insert in a new design. The rear bumper on the Sedan and Wagon has also been redesigned; geometry, trim and tailpipe trim vary according to the selected equipment and engine variant. The design of the front and rear lamps is defined by clear-lined contours. Exquisitely crafted details add highlights and underscore the modern character. The C-Class comes standard with LED High Performance headlamps featuring an all-new design. For the first time in a C-Class, MULTIBEAM LED headlamps are available (see below for details). The exterior colour spectrum has been broadened by the addition of Mojave Silver metallic and Emerald Green metallic for the Sedan and Wagon. The sporty interior exudes class, featuring flowing forms in a new interpretation of modern luxury.

The centre console is characterized by an elegant flowing trim. This is available in new open-pore brown walnut or open pore anthracite oak trims. The 3D real wood veneer in the centre console combines a hand-crafted character with a modern feel. New interiors include Magma grey/black, plus saddle brown for the AMG Interior Package. The KEYLESS-GO START function is standard, and the start/stop button comes in a new turbine-look design. The C-Class adopts the display concept of the current S-Class, with an optional fully digital instrument display offering three different display styles "Classic", "Sport" and "Progressive". Instrument cluster: The standard model features a classic two-tube analog instrument cluster. Between the gauges there is a 5.5-inch (14 cm) colour display (resolution: 383 x 600 pixels). The fully digital instrument display is available as an option. The screen has a 12.3-inch (31.24 cm) diagonal with high resolution (1920 x 720 pixels). The cutting-edge screen can be set to one of three different display styles: "Classic", "Sport" or "Progressive".

Drivers can quickly and simply switch between display styles. Alongside certain menu items, such as trip data or consumption figures, the driver can now also view the navigation display data or the ECO display in the instrument cluster. The latter feature helps the driver in adopting a fuel-efficient driving style. Central display: The multimedia screen above the centre console is also available in two sizes. The 7-inch (17.78 cm) screen with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels is standard. A high-resolution central display in 16:9 widescreen format is available in the Premium Package, and includes a 10.25-inch (26 cm) screen with a resolution of 1920 x 720 pixels. As with the instrument cluster, a choice of three display styles is available. The state-of-the-art user interface displays information clearly and intuitively, with informative graphics accompanying the text. The C-Class has touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel. They respond to swiping motions like the screen of a smartphone.

They enable drivers to control the functions of the instrument cluster and of the entire infotainment system without having to take their hands off the steering wheel. Available Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and cruise control can also be controled directly from the steering wheel. The infotainment system can also be operated via the touchpad with COMAND controller in the centre console or by means of LINGUATRONIC voice control. Vehicle functions such as heated seats can now also be operated by voice control. The optional head-up display is now adjustable throughout an even larger range. The new C-Class features the latest driving assistance systems, providing a higher standard of active safety than its predecessor. The C-Class is able to drive semi-autonomously in certain situations. To do this it keeps a close eye on the traffic situation: improved camera and radar systems allow it to see up to 500 m ahead. The 2019 C-Class comes with extended Active Brake Assist as standard. Depending on the situation, this can help to mitigate the consequences of collisions with slow-moving, stopping or stationary vehicles ahead, and even with crossing pedestrians and cyclists, or prevent them altogether.

The optionally available MULTIBEAM LED headlamps are new to the C-Class. Each headlamp incorporates 84 individually controllable LEDs. These allow extremely quick and precise, electronically controlled adjustment of the headlamps to suit the current traffic situation. Adaptive Highbeam Assist enables the automatic activation of high-beams without blinding oncoming traffic or vehicles ahead. The C-Class comes standard with the Audio 20 multimedia system featuring two USB ports, an SD card reader, Bluetooth connection and media interface. The latest-generation COMAND Online system (optional) boasts fast 3D hard-disc navigation with topographic map display, photo-realistic 3D buildings and 3D map rotations. Mobile devices compatible with the Qi standard can be charged conveniently while on the move with the optional wireless charging system. The charging surface in the quick stowage tray at the front of the centre console is also suitable for large smartphones.
