Tire Monitor System - False Warning Lamp Triggered

Tire Pressure Monitoring System False Trigger

CONDITION SUMMARY:



Situation:



The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) warning light may be illuminated with the message "Tire Pressure Monitoring Fault" displayed in the



message center. The Body Control Module (BCM) will also have logged code C1D18-00 in isolation. The charging circuit emits a 125MHz



electromagnetic pulse which is picked up by the TPMS wheel sensor, causing the system to fail to localize all of the sensors.



NOTE:



Replace all four (vehicle set [five low tire pressure sensors if the vehicle's spare tire / wheel is fitted with a TPMS sensor]) low tire pressure sensors



for this concern.



Action:



In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to replace the complete set (four or five) low tire



pressure sensors.

Refer to Workshop Manual for any required special tools

REPAIR PROCEDURE



REPLACE LOW TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS



1. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 204-04: Wheels and Tires, and replace all low tire pressure sensors.



CLEAR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES



CAUTION:



Ensure all ignition "ON" / ignition "OFF" requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules in the



vehicle.



CAUTION:



A Land Rover-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during IDS diagnosis / module programming.



1. Connect the Land Rover-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.



2. Turn ignition ON (engine not running).



NOTE:



IDS must be loaded with latest IDS-DVD and Calibration File.



3. Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) session.



4. Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle.



5. From the Session Type selection screen, choose "Diagnosis".



6. Select the "Selected Symptoms" tab, and then select:



^ Electrical > Instruments > Warning lamps > TPMS warning lamp illuminated



7. Select "continue".



8. Select the "Recommendations" tab.



9. From the Recommendations tab, select "Complete vehicle - clear all Diagnostic trouble codes"



^ Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.



10. Exit the current session.



11. Disconnect the IDS and the Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply from the vehicle.
