REPAIR PROCEDURE

CAUTION:

Ensure tools and hands are clean to avoid damage / marking of the headliner.

1. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 501-05: Interior Trim and Ornamentation, and release and lower the headliner:

^ Inspect the headliner for damage. (Figure 1)

CAUTION:

When cutting the headliner, ensure care is taken not to cut any further than required.

2. Starting 5mm from the top edge, slice down / away from the show face of the headliner using a suitable pair of sharp scissors or a scalpel. This

will relieve the tension in the cover material and allow for easier edge wrapping and prevent it from lifting again in the future. (Figure 2)

WARNING:

Wear gloves as the glue is an irritant to the skin and can adhere your skin together.

CAUTION:

Use care to avoid damage / marking of the headliner when applying the superglue.

NOTE:

The glue will not cure until the joint is air tight. Once the joint is made, the glue will cure extremely quickly: 20 seconds to hold; 60 seconds to

totally dry.

3. Lift the delaminated cover material and apply the glue to the headliner backing. (Figure 3)

WARNING:

Wear gloves as the glue is an irritant to the skin and can adhere your skin together.

CAUTION:

Ensure no damage is caused to the headliner.

NOTE:

Insufficient tension will show up as loose material along the top edge of the roof opening aperture.

4. Pull the edge of the material tightly over the frame and push the material into the glue and hold for 60 seconds. (Figure 4)

5. Ensure the headliner is correctly repaired. (Figure 5)

6. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 501-05: Interior Trim and Ornamentation, and install the headliner.
