High Level of Condenser Fan Noise

CONDITION SUMMARY:



Situation: The condenser fan may exhibit a high level of noise in high ambient temperature conditions at low vehicle speeds or while standing still.



This may be caused by the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) condenser fan duty command to the Engine Control Module (ECM).



*NOTE:



Vehicles that have had Q089 completed will not require the update outlined below; it is included in Q089.*



Action: In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to update the ECM and HVAC control module



software.

TOOLS:



IDS with IDS-DVD121_V6.01 or later and Calibration 30 or later Land Rover-Approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply

DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



RECONFIGURE THE ECM AND HVAC CONTROL MODULE



CAUTION:



Ensure all ignition 'ON' / ignition 'OFF' requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules in the



vehicle.

CAUTION:



A Land Rover-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during IDS diagnosis / module



programming.



1. Connect the Land Rover-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.



* NOTE:



IDS must be loaded with IDS-DVD121_V6.01 or later and Calibration File 30 or later.*



2. Connect the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) to the vehicle and begin a new Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) session.



3. Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle.



4. From the Session Type selection screen, choose 'Diagnosis'.



5. Select the Selected Symptoms tab, and then select:



^ Electrical > Climate control system > Other > Noises



6. Select continue~.



7. Select the Recommendations tab.



8. From the Recommendations tab, select Run to configure the Powertrain Control Module



^ Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.



NOTE:Two levels of software may be displayed for the HVAC control module, but the user will only be able to select one. Selecting this will



load both software updates to the HVAC control module.



9. From the Recommendations tab, select Run to configure the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Control Module



^ Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.



10. Exit the current session.
