Discard all previous versions of this bulletin.

Oil is leaking from the upper end of the engine oil cooler (oil cooler). See Figure 1.



ACTION:



Reseal the oil cooler with the parts listed in the PARTS INFORMATION.



^ For repairs refer to SERVICE PROCEDURE.



NOTE:



Do not replace the complete engine oil cooler assembly for this incident if it should occur.

PARTS INFORMATION

SERVICE PROCEDURE



1. Remove the oil cooler from the engine block.



^ Refer to the appropriate section of the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) if needed.



^ Perform repairs in a clean work environment.

2. Remove the four (4) bolts, and then remove the upper half of the oil cooler. See Figure 2.



3. Remove the O-ring gasket, and then thoroughly clean out the gasket area and around it with a suitable cleaner.



^ The dashed line in Figure 3 shows the O-ring gasket area to be cleaned.



^ Make sure no debris or contaminants get into the holes.



^ Also clean underneath the upper half of the oil cooler (no picture shown).



4. Lightly coat the new O-ring gasket (see PARTS INFORMATION) with engine oil, and then put it in place. See Figure 4.



5. Install the upper half of the oil cooler with the bolts.



6. Torque the bolts in two steps: first step at half value, and then the second step at full value (listed below).

^ Bolts torque sequence:



1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 (see Figure 5).



^ Bolts torque:



4.0 N.m (0.41 kg-m, 35.4 in lb)



7. Install the oil cooler to the engine with a new gasket (see PARTS INFORMATION).



Refer to the appropriate section of the ESM if needed.
