Condition
Updated horn installation procedure for replacement horns from new part supplier Fiamm. Both low and high tone horns will require replacement if
they are not manufactured by Fiamm.
Technical Background
The horn manufacturer has been changed to Fiamm. Different installation procedures are required for Fiamm horns.
Production Solution
New horns from manufacturer Fiamm were introduced into new vehicle production with VIN 8P_AA099068.
Service
1. The wiring harness will require modification because the horn wiring is not long enough for the Fiamm horns.
Page 232
Extend the wire length by opening the wire harness wrapping up to the clip of the window washer reservoir. See Figures 3 and 4 (red arrows).
Note:
Ensure the wire insulation is not damaged.
2. Install the upper horn first. The distance from the edge of the horn to the bracket should be about 5 mm (Figure 5, red arrow).
Tip: Use the electrical female connector of the horns for correct alignment.
- Align the lower horn to the upper horn and install.
- Connect and check the wiring to both horns; there should be no tension on the wires.
- Wrap the exposed horn wires with electrical tape for protection.
