APPENDIX 1

REPAIR PROCEDURE

REPLACE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM HEIGHT SENSOR CONNECTOR

1. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 414-00: Battery and Charging System, and disconnect the battery ground cable.

A Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

2. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 100-02: Jacking and Lifting, and raise and support the vehicle.

3. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 204-04: Wheels and Tires, and remove the necessary wheel and tire to access the affected air suspension

system sensor.

7. Disconnect the damaged height sensor electrical connector.

^ Release any retaining clips required to allow access to the electrical connector during the repair.

ALL VEHICLES

8. Remove a suitable amount of wiring harness insulation as required to access the wiring.

NOTE:

Cut only one wire at a time and stagger each joint to allow easier installation.

NOTE:

The colors of the overlay harness wires may vary.

NOTE:

Vehicles with adaptive damping have six (6); wires, vehicles without adaptive damping have three (3) wires.

9. Cut the wire on the vehicle harness leading to cavity one of the height sensor connector in a suitable position and remove 10mm of insulation.

(For connector location and pin identification, see Appendix 1 and refer to the relevant connector in the relevant Electrical Library).

NOTE:

Make sure that the heat shrink is installed over the wire before crimping the connection.

10. Using a suitable tool, crimp the connector to the height sensor harness.

^ Position the heat shrink over the height sensor harness.

NOTE:

The overlay harness should be cut so that there is no additional length added to the overall harness length after the repair.

11. Using a suitable tool, remove 10 mm of insulation from the appropriate wire on the new height sensor harness connector.

CAUTION:

Make sure that the surrounding components and trim are suitably protected when using the heat gun; failure to follow this instruction may

result in damage to the vehicle.

12. Using a suitable tool, crimp the connector to the appropriate wire on the new height sensor harness connector and secure the heat shrink.

NOTE:

Cut only one of the wires at a time and stagger each joint to allow easier installation.

NOTE:

Vehicles with adaptive damping have six (6) wires; vehicles without adaptive damping have three (3) wires.

13. Carry out steps 9 - 12 for the remaining wires on the height sensor connector.

14. Using a suitable tape, insulate the height sensor harness.

15. Connect the height sensor electrical connector.

16. If required, secure any wiring harness clips released for access.

17. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 204-04: Wheels and Tires, and install the wheel and tire.

18. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 414-00: Battery and Charging System, and connect the battery ground cable.
