CONDITION SUMMARY:



SAFETY BELT PRETENSIONER WIRE ROUTING PRIOR TO INSTALLATION

Situation:



If not properly routed and secured the wiring of a replacement safety belt pretensioner can become trapped in the seat track. Prior to installing a new



pretensioner, the wiring must be properly routed and secured to prevent potential damage to the wiring.



Action:



Should a new safety belt pretensioner be required, refer to the Repair Procedure detailed in this bulletin to properly route and secure the pretensioner



wiring during pretensioner installation.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



ROUTE AND SECURE SAFETY BELT PRETENSIONER WIRING



CAUTION:



Care must be taken to avoid damage to the pretensioner wires. The wires must face away from the inboard side of the seat when secured by the



cable ties. The cable ties must not be over-tightened.



1. Align the new safety belt pretensioner assembly to the existing front seat pretensioner that is to be replaced.



2. Route the wiring of the new pretensioner along the side of the pretensioner tube so that the wiring is facing away from the inboard side of the



seat. (Figure 1)



3. Secure the wiring in two positions with the cable ties, ensuring not to over-tighten the cable ties. (Figure 1)

4. Using black fabric tape, secure the wiring to the pretensioner tube, ensuring the tape does not extend beyond the end of the tube. (Figure 1)
