CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation: A 'clattering' noise may be heard from the engine. Upon further investigation, including removing the supercharger drive belt and running

the engine to confirm the noise is no longer present, the noise may be found to be coming from the supercharger assembly.

NOTE:

Removal of the supercharger drive belt and running of the engine to verify the clattering noise is emanating from the supercharger assembly must

be done prior to the fitting of a new supercharger assembly.

Cause: This may be caused by the following conditions:

^ The torsional isolator spring may fail due to lack of adequate input shaft pilot support, leading to overhang and increased stresses in the

torsion spring and causing excessive backlash in the supercharger drive and no torsional damping.

^ Bearing contamination.

Action: In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below.
