Audi Shows Off The 2019 R8's Face In New Teaser Image

But when will the facelifted R8 actually arrive?

We've known for a while now that Audi is working on a facelifted version of its R8 supercar for the 2019 model year. We've even spotted Audi testing camouflaged prototypes in both coupe and convertible form, hinting at a more hardcore GT version with as much as 650 to 670 horsepower.

Then, Audi teased a mysterious R8 at the Paris Motor Show, which ended up being an LMS customer race car. Now, Audi has published yet another teaser, this time for a road-going version of the R8. This teaser likely shows the 2019 facelifted Audi R8.

The teaser was posted by Audi Sport's Twitter account along with very few details. The caption simply reads, "Thrilling performance in every single detail. #LeagueofPerformance." This isn't a lot to go off of but at least we do get our first real glimpse of what the facelifted R8 will look like. From what we can see, the grille looks much wider and the air intakes appear larger. It also looks like Audi has added a vent right above the main hood, which only appears on the car to the right.

This may insinuate that there will be more than one version of the facelifted R8. Perhaps the car on the right is the hardcore GT model we've been waiting for, while the car on the left is the base or Plus model. The R8 GT is expected to possess similar performance ability as the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, meaning it will be incredibly fast around a track. We'll have to wait for an official reveal from Audi, but with the LA Auto Show coming up next month, we wouldn't be surprised to see the new R8 very soon. Hopefully, it will be worth the wait.
