Horizon Yachts FD87 Skyline is a Space Efficient Stunner
What vehicle has a predominantly blue exterior, is roomier inside than its outside would suggest, and is coveted by a whole lot of people? Well, yeah, the TARDIS would fit that description, but we were actually thinking about the new FD87 Skyline from Horizon Yachts.
This fully-enclosed (including the upper bridge) boat presents a smaller silhouette than most in this category, but you wouldn’t know it venturing below topside: The ceilings are high, the windows abundant and the five staterooms (which include the plush main deck master suite) are remarkably palatial. And because Horizon didn’t go crazy with the hull dimensions (unless you count the rather generous 23’ beam), there’s not a whole lot of draft or drag for the twin 1,136 horsepower CAT C18 engines to overcome, so the FD87 Skyline is able to cover 1,780 miles at a 10 knot cruising speed and max out at 16 knots. So no, it can’t travel through time but, on a luxury yacht, time is seldom a concern.

Cause:
Waking of the door control units with a simultaneous voltage dip in the power supply (< 5 V) can cause the above function failures under certain
circumstances.
Remedy:
1. Perform reset of affected door control unit (unplug connector 3 at DCU-xF for approx. 20 seconds)
2. Perform normalization of power window system.
3. Erase fault memory.
4. Check whether the fault was rectified by the reset.
=> Fault not rectified: Continue with step 5.
=> Fault rectified: Continue with step 6.
5. Replace door control unit (DCU-xF).
6. Perform initial startup of door control unit: (Xentry Diagnostics => Control unit view => DCU-xF => Adaptations => Initial startup)

2019 Maserati Levante Trofeo is an Italian Pepper Grinder
Like most premium sport and luxury car manufacturers that have branched out into SUV-building, Maserati has been reaping the sales volume (and subsequent monetary) rewards of its first production 4×4, the Levante. However, given that the model’s current most potent engine is a 424 horsepower 3.0L twin-turbo V6 in the Levante S, it finds itself severely outgunned by competitors such as the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63, BMW X5 M, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and even the Jaguar F-Pace SVR we discussed yesterday (not to mention FCA corporate cousins Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio and Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk). Thankfully for devotees of vehicles wearing Neptune’s trident, help is on the way in the form of the 2019 Maserati Levante Trofeo.
Other than more aggressive fascias, a vented hood, extended carbon fiber side skirts and some killer 22” wheels, there isn’t a whole lot going on outside the Levante Trofeo to tip people off that there’s something evil lurking underneath. That something evil happens to be a Ferrari-developed 3.8L twin-turbo V8 producing 590 horsepower and 538 lb.-ft of torque. Piped through an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system, that power propels the massive Maser to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and onward to a 186 mph V-max. Look for Modenese monster to turn the super SUV wars upside down starting later this year.

Diagnostic procedures for the DAS3 Drive Authorization System have been revised for models listed above. Please proceed as follows when
diagnosing systems conditions.

Select Control units -> Body -> EIS -> "Guided transmitter key check" or "Guided drive authorization system check"
Select the respective guided check. A guided diagnosis follows which is used to pinpoint the component that is causing the condition. Do not replace
any component before performing this diagnosis. Always perform the diagnosis in its entirety until SDS identifies the component to be replaced. At
the end of the test steps, the user will be prompted to print the results. When submitting a claim, copies of this printout and a quick test must
accompany the parts. The warranty claim may be debited a handling charge if the printout and the quick test do not accompany the parts.
Applied diagnostic steps are stored in the EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch) and ESL (Electric Steering Lock) components. The diagnostic steps
utilized by the dealer will be electronically verified by the QEC to determine if the control unit performed the diagnostic procedure. If it is
determined that a complete diagnosis was not performed, the warranty claim may be debited a handling charge.

This Service Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG (DAG), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that the left
and right underbody panel fasteners do not meet the current production configuration and the underbody panels may be loose or sags. Dealers will
replace the left and right underbody panel fasteners at the next workshop visit.
Prior to performing this Service Campaign:
^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
^ Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.
Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.
Approximately 24,100 vehicles are affected.
Procedure
1. Remove expansion clamp fasteners (arrows, Figure 1, 2) from right underfloor panel (A, Figure 1):
Note:
Do not to block access to the fasteners near vehicle's lift points with lift arm pads (B, Figure 1) when positioning the lift arm pads (2 post lift) to
raise vehicle.
Warning:
Ensure lift arm pads are properly aligned with vehicle's lift points; refer to WIS: AS00.00-Z-0010-01A.
^ Remove torx screw (C, Figure 1) (reuse during reassembly).

^ Push a 14 mm socket (A, Figure 2) over the fastener (arrow) then unscrew fastener (arrow) from mounting stud.
Note:
Leave fastener (arrow) attached to panel for now.
^ Repeat previous step on remaining 6 fasteners (arrows, Figure 1).
^ Push fasteners (arrow, Figure 2) through panel with socket (A) to remove (do not reuse fasteners).
2. Apply wax and install spacers:
^ Carefully pull down under body panel to access panel mounting studs (A, Figure 3). (do NOT remove panel).
WARNING!
Wear eye protection. Road debris (dirt, gravel, etc.) may fall from panel when pulling panel down.
^ Apply wax to mounting stud (A, Figure 3) and also to area (approx 2 cm) around mounting stud with a brush (shop supply).
^ Install spacer (arrow, Figure 3) onto stud (A) so it fully contacts floor pan.
Note:
Ensure that the side of the spacer (arrow, Figure 3) with the engagement lobes is facing down.

^ Repeat process on remaining 6 studs (A, Figure 3).
3. Refasten underfloor panel to floor pan using new collar nut fasteners (Figure 4) in reverse order.
Note:
^ Tighten nut (Figure 4) "snugly" (to approx 2.5 Nm.) using 1/4 drive hand tools only. Do NOT use power or air tools to install.
^ Mounting stud (A, Figure 3) will not protrude out of collar nut when installed.
^ Reuse torx screw (C, Figure 1).
4. Repeat procedure on opposite underfloor panel.

The air bag SRS control module (N2/2) does not have a set shelf life and will normally be reliable for the life of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle.
NOTE:
With 164, 216, 221, 251 and newer, the airbag control unit can be reset five times. With models 202, 210 and newer, the airbag control unit can be
reset three times.
Earlier models would have to have their airbag control unit and triggered restrain components changed only after an accident.after an accident.
2019 Jaguar F-Pace SVR Trades Claws for Machetes [w/ Videos]
Although more than a few automotive industry watchers – yours truly included – initially questioned the viability of Jaguar adding SUVs to its lineup when sister brand Land Rover already had the premium British off-roader market pretty well covered from top to bottom, the establishment that was founded 96 years ago as Swallow Sidecar Company doesn’t seem to be having any trouble unloading every F-Pace it makes. Now, to further broaden its appeal, Jaguar Land Rover’s resident hot rodders have had their way with it and created the 2019 Jaguar F-Pace SVR.
While the more aggressive fascias and engorged fenders should be enough of a warning that this is no run-of-the-mill mall-crawling Jag, the sounds coming from the quad tailpipes at the end of the lightweight (by 14.5 lbs. relatve to the regular F-Pace’s) Variable Valve Active Exhaust System should certainly clue you in: Instead of the regular models’ turbocharged gas and diesel four-bangers or supercharged V6, the SVR’s bonnet conceals the JLR corporate 5.0L supercharged V8, tuned to produce 550 horsepower and 502 lb.-ft of torque in this application. The company says that’s enough thrust (fed to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission) to shove the F-Pace SVR to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, and onto a 176 mph top speed. Naturally, the suspension, steering and brakes have also been upgraded to improve the vehicle’s on-road chops, though you’ll need improved financial chops to acquire one: The base MSRP will be $80,985 when sales begin later this year. Consider yourself warned, German super SUV cartel…

Previous iPod/iPhone generations could be charged with 5V and 12V. The iPods/iPhones listed above and future generations can only be charged at
5V.
Note on model series 221, 216:
Due to the power management in model series 221 and 216, the iPod/iPhone is charged only when the engine is running in vehicles with iPod
interface kit installed.
Note:
The change in charging circuit from [5v/12v] to 5v is Apple Corporation responsibility and not Mercedes-Benz/Daimler AG. Any unnecessary
replacements will be debited.
Remedy:
1. Replace iPod consumer cable (see parts note).
Note:
Occasionally, the message "Charging not supported with this accessory" appears on the display of the iPod Nano even though the iPod Nano is being
charged. This message can be ignored if the charging symbol of the iPod nano indicates that the rechargeable battery is being charged (see picture in
attachment).
2. Replace iPod cable set of iPod interface kit (see parts note).

The iPod interface kits listed are not approved for the iPhone 3G or iPod Nano 4G, iPod Touch 2G and iPod classic 120GB.
Note:
Older iPods can be charged with both the old and new consumer/charging cables.

Check Power Steering Line Connection Fitting
This Recall Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG (DAG) has determined that the power steering system in the subject vehicles may fail
due to the loss of power steering fluid. The connection fitting on the high-pressure power steering line at the connection to the pump did not have
sufficient torque applied during the production process. Loss of torque of the connection fitting may, overtime, result in a loss of power steering
fluid. As a result of the loss of power steering fluid, owners may not have sufficient control of the vehicle in areas, such as parking, where maximum
power steering is required, and could lead to a vehicle crash.
Attached is a sample copy of a letter which owners of the affected vehicles will receive.
Prior to performing this Recall Campaign:

^ Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
^ Please review the entire Recall Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.
Please note that Recall and Service Campaigns do not expire and may also be performed on a vehicle with a vehicle status indicator.
Approximately 85,078 vehicles are affected.
Procedure
A. Check Manufacturer of Power Steering Pump
1. Remove driver's side engine air intake duct upstream of air filter.
2. Check identification plate of power steering pump (Figure 1).
Note:
Use a mirror if necessary.
^ If Manufacturer is "ZF Lenksysteme": Proceed to Subject B, Check Power Steering Pump
^ If other manufacturers: Procedure is complete.
B. Check Power Steering Pump
1. Temporarily replace the original power steering reservoir cap (circled, Figure 2) with the unvented reservoir cap (A) for this campaign.
Note:
^ This cap (A) reduces power steering fluid leakage during the subsequent operation steps.
^ Two caps will be shipped to each dealer (Part number: A 001 466 27 05 05).
^ This cap must be treated similar to a special tool, since it's only available in limited numbers. Paint cap with a light color paint (white, yellow etc.)
so it is noticeable and not left on the pump.

Caution!
Be sure to reinstall the original power steering reservoir cap when checking the fluid level and bleeding.
2. Disconnect power steering high pressure line fitting (arrow, Figure 3/4) from the pump:
^ Place a shop rag below the power steering pump line fitting (arrow, Figure 3).
^ Remove bolt (A)
^ Disconnect power steering high pressure line fitting (arrow, Figure 3) from power steering pump.
3. Put socket wrench bit (special tool) onto connection fitting (arrow, Figure 4) and check whether it can be turned by hand (without any tools).
^ If the connection fitting (arrow, Figure 4) cannot be turned by hand: Proceed to Subject C.
^ If the connection fitting (arrow, Figure 4) can be turned by hand: Proceed to Subject D.
Note:
^ If the connection fitting (arrow, Figure 4) cannot be turned by hand, the 0-ring of the fitting does not have to be replaced.
^ If the connection fitting (arrow, Figure 4) can be turned, as a precaution, the 0-ring ring must be replaced.
C. Torque the Connection Fitting, Reconnect Power Steering Hose.
1. Torque connection fitting (arrow, Figure 4) using socket wrench to 55 Nm.
2. Reconnect power steering high pressure line fitting (arrow, Figure 3) to the connection fitting on power steering pump then torque bolt (A, Figure
3) to 18 Nm.
Note:
Replacement of 0-ring on power steering line itself (arrow, Figure 3) is not required.
3. Check power steering fluid level, correct if necessary:
^ Remove unvented power steering fluid cap (do not reinstall this cap).
^ Start the engine, turn steering wheel side to side up to the limit stop 8 times.
^ Fill fluid level to proper level with engine off.
^ Reinstall the original power steering fluid reservoir cap then check fluid level and check fluid for foaming.
Caution!
Be sure to reinstall the original power steering reservoir cap.
4. Check for leaks at the power steering line connection fitting (arrow, Figure 3) to the power steering pump.
Note:

Clean up any power steering fluid that may have leaked during procedure.
5. Reassemble in reverse order. Procedure is complete.
D. Replace Power Steering Pump Connection Fitting 0-Ring
1. Completely unscrew connection fitting (arrow, Figure 4) and replace 0-ring on connection fitting (arrow, Figure 4).
2. Torque connection fitting (arrow, Figure 4) using socket wrench to 55 Nm.
3. Reconnect power steering high pressure line fitting (arrow, Figure 3) to connection fitting on power steering pump then torque bolt (A, Figure 3)
to 18 Nm.
Note:
Replacement of 0-ring on power steering line itself (arrow, Figure 3) is not required.
4. Check power steering fluid level, correct if necessary:
^ Remove unvented power steering fluid cap (do not reinstall this cap).
^ Start the engine, turn steering wheel side to side up to the limit stop 8 times.
^ Fill fluid level to proper level with engine off.
^ Reinstall the original power steering fluid reservoir cap then check fluid level and check fluid for foaming.

Ordering Notes for Electrohydraulic Control Unit
The following information clarifies how to determine the correct electrohydraulic control units.
A. Procedure 1a
1. Diagnosis on the vehicle is possible:
2. To determine the correct EHS part number, the currently installed EHS should first be read out with the Star diagnosis.
a. Xentry Diagnostics:
^ via the path "Control units view" - "Current quick test" - "Fully integrated transmission control" - "EHS part number".
^ Ordering the new EHS with this read out part number.
b. DAS:
^ "Quick test">"EGS > electronic transmission control serial number".
^ Ordering the new EHS with this read out serial number.
B. Procedure 1b
Diagnosis on the vehicle is no longer possible, as the control unit no longer responds. Therefore, the number must be read off directly by the
EHS and the ordering process is started with this number.
C. Procedure 2
1. Read out part number A 220 270 14 06
2. This part number was replaced by A 220 270 13 06 or by A 220 270 18 06, depending on the vehicle model range.
For this the following must be observed for correct ordering:
