Computers/Controls - Malfunctions Of Various Power/Control Unit
Malfunctions of various control units and/or on-board power supply problems caused by water in the control unit tray under the driver/front
passenger seat (dislocated, pinched or leaking condensation hose)
Topic number L183.00-P-052510
Version 2
Design group 83.00 General
Date 02-28-2013
Validity All Mercedes-Benz cars
Reason for change Remedy adapted, validity adapted
Complaint:
Water that enters into the control unit tray under the driver/front passenger seat can damage the control units installed there and complaints may be
received about the functions associated with these control units.
Problems with the on-board power supply voltage may also occur.2010 Mercedes Benz C 63 AMG Sedan (204.077) V8-6.3L (156.985)
Page 411
Cause:
The condensation hose (right/left) on the A/C housing may either be dislocated, pinched/crushed (water collects in A/C housing) or leaking, resulting
in water entering the interior.
Remedy:
If the condensation hose (right/left) is dislocated, push it all the way back onto the outlet fitting of the A/C housing and check for tight seating by
pulling gently. If necessary, use a cable tie to additionally fix the condensation hose in place. Never use soapy water or silicone spray to install.
If the condensation hose (right/left) is pinched/crushed, it can be checked for free passage as follows:
1. Use the operating unit to set maximum cooling on both sides.
2. On the vehicle underside, check whether water emerges from the condensation water drains. If no water emerges, the hose is blocked. In this
case, reposition the hose correctly to ensure free passage or replace the hose if it is damaged.
Invoice the damage with reference to the appropriate damage code..

Please see Attachment 2 for a list of vehicles with "Dyno-Mode" capability and the activation procedure.
According to US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) procedures, if an emissions inspector has difficulty performing the I/M 240 test on a
2-wheel dynamometer, the following should be considered:
^ Test the vehicle on a 4-wheel dynamometer, or
^ Perform an optional emission test at idle +2500 rpm
An emissions inspector should also consider the options above if they are uncertain about the Dyno-M ode activation procedure or is uncertain about
which vehicles can operate on a 2-wheel dynamometer.

Complaint:
Various function failures in the door control (only front doors affected):
^ Automatic window raising not possible
^ Power window cannot be normalized
^ Automatic fold in/out function of outside mirror faulty
^ Malfunction of central locking
^ Actuation of illumination in doors faulty
^ Malfunction of seat adjustment
Notes:
^ The fault memory of the door control unit (DCU-xF) may contain stored fault codes that are listed under "Control unit/fault code" (see below).
^ In the event of a complaint, the fault is continuously present.
Cause:
Waking of the door control units with a simultaneous voltage dip in the power supply (< 5 V) can cause the above function failures under certain
circumstances.
Remedy:
1. Perform reset of affected door control unit (unplug connector 3 at DCU-xF for approx. 20 seconds)
2. Perform normalization of power window system.
3. Erase fault memory.
4. Check whether the fault was rectified by the reset.
