Test prerequisites
- Check plug connection and screw connection B to battery, prefuse box and alternator for correct seating. Test sequence
- Switch off ignition. - etach sockets F and M at component N3/10 (ME-SFI [ME] control unit). - Measure direct voltage with multimeter between sockets [ F.2 ] 98 and [ M.45 ] 45 of the 126-pole socket box tester. Specified value
- oltage [ > 11  ] Question
- Is the measurement value OK?

YES Test sequence
- Switch off ignition. - Reconnect detached couplings. - isconnect 2-pin plug from component Generator. - Connect adapter cable no. 220 589 00 99 35 at component Generator. - Connect multimeter to red socket of adapter and socket box. - Measure direct voltage with multimeter between pin [G2] 2 and socket [ M.45 ] 45 of the 126-pole socket box tester. - Switch on ignition. Specified value

YES The measurement value is OK.Other possible cause of fault
- The alternator regulator is defective End of test
NO The measurement value is not OK.Possible cause and remedy
- Check lines and connectors for proper connection and locking, loose contact, damage, contamination and corrosion. - Check engine wiring harness for correct routing, chafe marks and proper contact at the control unit. For cleaning, the connector may only be blown out with compressed air! Cleaning agents must not be used.
NO The measurement value is not OK.Possible cause and remedy
- Check LIN lines between control unit N3/10 (ME-SFI [ME] control unit) and component Generator. Continue with button F2
